Group's charity event aims to donate bikes to orphans

Thank you Vallysun Newspaper for covering our event.
In 2012, St. Francis High School’s Sebouh Bazikian made a promise to raise $5,000 to provide orphans in Kenya with bicycles that would get them to school safely and potentially change their lives forever.
He created a blog, Bikes 4 Orphans, to raise money and reached out to family and friends. With help from the aid organization World Bike Relief, the high school senior traveled in 2013 with his family to the Machao Orphanage in Makueni County to make the delivery.

We have great news!

At the beginning of the year we placed the ambitious goal of $10,000 by July 2015. We are proud to announce that we are almost halfway there.
We want to thank everyone for their support and their belief in our cause! We truly appreciate the community’s help and encouragement.
We have raised the following since the beginning of 2015:
$1000 - Glendale Rotary Club of Noon
$1000 - Altadena Rotary Club
$2000 - 2 Private Companies: Riedon & PBI
$850 - Several individual Donors
We hope we’ll raise the rest of our goal during our Bike-A-Thon / Hike-A-Thon event on February 28th. If we can get at least 250 participants to show up, we will achieve our goal.
$10,000 will allow us to help change 75 orphans' lives by giving them education through the power of bicycles. Hope to see you all on February 28th at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Thanks Glendale City Council!

We would like to thank Mayor Sinanyan and all the City Council Members, Laura Friedman, Ara Najarian, Paula Devine, and Dave Weaver, for giving us their time and attention as we were able to present what this organization is about and announce the 2nd Annual Bike-A-Thon / Hike-A-Thon Event to them and all those who viewed the segment on TV. Then they honored us with a Commendation written by the Mayor! It was an honor.

Also Thank You for the Bikes 4 Orphans Team Members, Matthew Davidian,Tommy Christopolous, and Deena Gharibian, who came to share some information as well. These members are really embodying the core idea of teens helping teens.
